Our strategy

Our Company, supported by the Bluewater platform, is uniquely positioned to capitalise on trends in the international energy market, particularly given that the pace and innovation within the energy transition is being led by Europe, home to eight of the ten largest clean-tech companies in the world.

There are very few specialised, international only, private equity energy investors active today that are dedicated to this space. We will leverage Bluewater’s proprietary deal origination and value creation capabilities helping us to identify, acquire and build a leading company benefiting from these energy transition trends.

Our market opportunity

We believe the energy transition has driven, and will continue to drive, a number of key trends that present attractive opportunities for an investment that has the potential to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns for our shareholders. Our primary areas of focus include but are not limited to:

Emissions reduction in the energy supply chain

We believe that increasing the amount of energy produced by natural gas represents one of the most impactful opportunities to reduce global carbon emissions in the near-term. However, this necessitates additional infrastructure build-out and innovation to enable the production, transportation and consumption of natural gas in a more economically feasible and environmentally-friendly manner. We believe there are significant opportunities to invest in companies that facilitate this, including small scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) solutions to eliminate well-head flaring, zero carbon emissions engines, electrification, and robotics that detect and prevent methane leakages.

Solutions for enhanced grid stability and resilience

Power grids globally are facing new demands to accommodate an increasing amount of direct current energy produced by intermittent sources such as wind and solar, and to meet the demand from new low-carbon technologies such as electric vehicles (EVs). Accordingly, we believe there are attractive opportunities in areas such as power grid management software, energy storage and battery systems, combined heat and power (CHP) systems, load shifting and EV charging infrastructure, amongst others.

Next generation biofuels and cleaner fuels

Demand for next generation biofuels such as renewable diesel, jet fuel and bio-methanol is increasing rapidly, driven by efforts to decarbonise economies and a reduction in the cost of production of renewable fuels. Additionally, cleaner fuels like green and blue hydrogen and ammonia will increasingly contribute to the overall decarbonisation of sectors that find it more challenging to reduce emissions, including industrial processes, heating, and long-haul transportation. We believe there are attractive opportunities to invest in companies that operate in this space.

Clean energy services and value add technologies

There is an increased demand for companies that can, for example, provide critical operating capabilities, or aid in and facilitate the deployment of new value add technologies, including effective maintenance, emissions monitoring, energy efficiency enhancement, amongst other products and services in the clean energy sector. We believe there are attractive opportunities for an investment in the clean energy services space.

Data analytics and digitalisation

We believe there are attractive opportunities to invest in companies that operate in advanced big data analytics and digitalisation space, helping to transform global energy systems by optimising costs and improving their safety, reliability, productivity, connectivity, and sustainability.

Circular economy

10-20% of the plastic currently produced globally is disposed into oceans, whilst
over one million EV batteries will need to be recycled by the end of this decade. We believe there are significant opportunities to invest in companies that are developing new energy from waste (EfW) and recycling technologies that can convert plastic to oil, use waste plastics to pave roads, and/or dispose of or recycle batteries, amongst other processes and technologies contributing to creating a more circular economy.
